Join us in Welcoming Bruce Summerhays, the New Wolf Creek Golf Pro!
The 2016 golf season is quickly approaching and the managing owners of Wolf Creek Golf Resort are excited to introduce the new PGA Golf Professional. Bruce Summerhays, Jr is a Utah golf scion and outstanding player with a diverse repertoire of instruction and experience. He and his wife, Andrea, and youngest son, Cole, are planning a move to the Eden area soon, although he has already moved into the Pro Shop, and is working busily with the course crew and organizing the schedule.
“We are glad to be back in Utah and looking forward to getting to know Ogden Valley and the people who live here,” Bruce shared at a recent dinner with owners, John and Melissa Lewis. He comes to Wolf Creek most recently from El Macero Golf Club in Davis, California where he was the Head Pro since 2014.
Previous to that, Summerhays was the Director of Instruction for the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. From 2008 to 2012, he was the PGA Pro at Sky Mountain Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah. He brings with him outstanding instructing and player development skills, as well as experience managing all of the elements of running a golf resort.
Many resort members had a chance to meet Bruce at a Wolf Creek Golf Excursion last weekend in Mesquite, and saw Bruce’s amazing skills first hand.
“I got a chance to play the first day with Bruce and saw his abilities. Not only is it fun to play and watch a golfer this good, but you can tell he can teach what he knows,” explained Gil Ogle, Wolf Creek Member.
He continues to compete in the PGA mini-tours, often coming home victorious. In 2014 and 2015 he won seven events combined.
Summerhays grew up in Heber City Utah and went to Wasatch High School where he was All-State in golf. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and began his PGA Pro career in 2006. He and Andrea also have three other grown children.
